Immediate Part Time Opening
Montgomery County School-Based Health Center and Catholic University Adjunct Clinical Faculty

The Catholic University of America School of Nursing and Children's National Medical Center partner with Montgomery County to provide direct clinical care to children enrolled in school-based health centers at select elementary schools in Montgomery County.  CUA is seeking to hire one or two additional part-time pediatric nurse practitioners to provide 18-24 hours of direct pediatric clinical care at two elementary schools in Gaithersburg during the school calendar year.  Family nurse practitioners with extensive pediatric experience may be considered for the positions.  Nurse practitioners with Spanish language skills and experience working with culturally diverse populations are preferred.

The nurse practitioner will be expected to provide family focused pediatric care and will partner with other on and off site providers of mental health, social, educational, health and prevention services for the enrolled children and their families.  The nurse practitioner will work collaboratively with other members of the health care team at the schools, in particular with the school community health nurse and pediatrician to offer both well and sick care to children enrolled in the centers as well as children assigned through Care for Kids Program.  An important role for the nurse practitioner will be to precept nursing and medical students from the collaborative institutions to prepare for future roles in school based health care.  Opportunities are available for teaching and the design and implementation of health education and research participation.  Nurse Practitioners are hired by The Catholic University of America on an annual basis and are directly responsible to the CUA Program Director.  They will maintain active licensure and certification in the state of Maryland.
