WHY JOIN THE VIRGINIA CHAPTER OF NAPNAP:

Since the Virginia Chapter was founded in 1971, the organization has been active in promoting healthcare for children, and the role of the PNP in providing that care.

The chapter has active members on the legislative coalition for the state of Virginia, as well as the Nursing Political Action Committee (NPAC).

The chapter meetings and website allow networking with your colleagues, access to job openings, and volunteer opportunities, as well as a calandar of upcoming Continuing Education opportunities in the area.   Members receive a quarterly newsletter.

There are five or more dinner/lectures each year offered in both the NOVA area and the Richmond area.  Attendees are awarded CEU credit for these programs.

The chapter awards annual scholarships for members to attend a Pediatric conference.

NEW APRIL 2009:   ONE UNITED VOICE
In October 2008, the NAPNAP Executive Board voted to approve the program NAPNAP:  One United Voice, in order to promote one strong unified voice advocating for children and PNPs.  On March 21st, Kris McHarg (President, Virginia Chapter) signed the Affiliation agreement for the state chapter.
Effective July 1, 2009, NAPNAP membership will unite both National and Chapter membership.  All members will have dual membership and may select a local/ state chapter of choice.  Dues will increase to $165.00 per year, of which $30.00 will be transferred to the Chapter (Students rate $85.00 per year; $15 to the chapter;   Retirees reate $65.00 per year, $10 to the chapter).  The new fiscal year will be July 1 to June 30.

Benefits for the Virginia Members:
--cost savings - If you were both a National member ($130) and a VA Chapter Member ($55), you will now save $20 per year on the combined membership.  Plus you won't have to remember to renew and pay 2 separate dues.  If you are currently a chapter only member (not a member of National) you will not have that option beginning July 1st, 2009.  We encourage all of you to join the National organization for PNPs and your Virginia Chapter membership will continue along with National NAPNAP membership.
